ASI Health: What’s New in February 2026
ASI Health is advancing health equity, workforce opportunity, and community trust—through place-based initiatives, training pathways, and leadership that’s gaining regional recognition.
🏥 Health & Workforce Development Center: One Door, Many Solutions
ASI Health is advancing plans for its new Health & Workforce Development Center designed to transform lives through seamless, co-located services.
The center will serve as a one-stop hub where residents can access:
Health care: aging-in-place supports, behavioral health, vaccinations
Workforce training: CNA, LPN, RN pathways, digital literacy, green jobs
Community health navigation: insurance, education, housing, and social services
Trusted partners—including the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Puerto Rican Cultural Center—will help ensure services are integrated and accessible.
Why it matters: Imagine one resident walking through the doors—supported from hospital discharge, to home health care, to job training that sustains their family—all under one roof.
The bottom line: This initiative is a national model for integrated health and workforce development. What works in Humboldt Park can be replicated in communities across the country.

🛠️ New Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program
ASI recently received federal grant funding to launch its new Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which helps prepares local residents for careers in the construction and building trades.
Key elements of the program:
12–13 week training with hands-on experience.
Paid participation stipends.
Pipeline into registered apprenticeships.
Focus on equity and access for historically underrepresented workers.
Why this matters: A job is the #1 driver of health: Without income, families lack access to healthcare, quality housing, and other essentials. Access to good-paying, stable job strengthens families and communities.
🏆 Leadership Spotlight: Marta Cerda
ASI CEO Marta Cerda, J.D., was featured in Global Healthcare Magazine as an innovative leader building an “empire of equity”—driving integrated care models and future growth plans like a health equity innovation lab.
Her leadership has transformed ASI into a national model for equitable, community-based care focused on underserved communities.

🎉 ASI Turns 50! 🎉
ASI recently celebrated 50 years of service to Chicago’s immigrant and working families. What began in 1975 as an employment and training center has grown into a trusted provider of home care, behavioral health, workforce development, and wraparound community services — all rooted in care, equity, and opportunity.
We marked this milestone with a special anniversary celebration alongside partners, advocates, and friends. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has supported ASI over the past five decades — and who continues to help us build healthier families and stronger communities.

📌 Bottom Line
We’re building more than programs—we’re growing trusted solutions that bring health care access, economic mobility, and community leadership to every neighborhood we serve.
Thank you for your support and partnership.
